Photography workshop FAQs

How fit do I have to be?

While we will not be doing anything too strenuous, a good level of fitness is required. You will be driven to each location; however, we may walk short distances over rough terrain while carrying our photography equipment. Exploring varied landscapes like woodland, bog, lakes, shorelines and coast, makes for more interesting images.

If it is an island workshop, then you will need a good level of fitness as we will be walking to all locations.

What camera gear should I bring?

Bring your camera, a tripod, fully charged batteries, spare camera cards, and filters if you want to use them.

Do I need to bring anything else with me?

Given the changeable Irish weather, it is wise to bring raingear, good walking boots and warm clothes with you on the day. It is likely we will experience varied weather conditions. Also bring snacks and water, to keep the energy levels topped up.

What if it rains?

Some of the best pictures are taken in changeable weather conditions. If rain is forecast, I will usually continue with a workshop. The best light always appears shortly after a rain shower. We will always take a break in the nearest café and talk about editing while heavy rain passes over. However, if extreme bad weather is forecast, then I will cancel or reschedule a workshop.

I would like a longer ‘one on one’ photo tour in Ireland, is that possible?

That is no problem. I can organise a tailor-made photo tour to suit your location requirements. I often travel to other parts of the country for workshops. Please be aware that extra charges may occur, given extra fuel or accommodation costs, depending on the location.

How do I pay for my workshop?

There are three ways to pay.

1.       By money transfer online or internet banking. No extra fees apply.

2.       PayPal. Unfortunately, PayPal takes a percentage of your fee. Over time, these add up. As a result, I have to pass on the 3.5% PayPal fee to you. There is no surcharge if you pay by money transfer or cheque.

3.      By cheque. Send to Trish Punch Photography, Monees, Douglas, Cork, Ireland.

If I need to cancel, do I receive a refund?

If you need to cancel up to two weeks prior to your workshop, then a 50% refund will be issued. And if you cancel less than two weeks before the workshop start date, you will receive a 25% refund. If you cancel less than one week beforehand, you will receive no refund. All cancellations must be made in writing, emails are acceptable. The date on which the letter or email is received by me, will determine the rates of cancellation charges applicable. In the case of a cancellation from my end, a full refund will be given.

Can I bring my non-participating partner/spouse/friend along?

Yes, they are more than welcome to come along and enjoy the spectacular scenery on the ‘one to one’ courses while you take your pictures. Just so they are aware, we will be spending quality time at each location and they may have to put up with us talking all things photography. They will be charged 50% of the workshop price.

Non-participants may not attend the group workshops as this would not be fair to other participants.

Do I need insurance?

You are advised to acquire your own travel insurance and photo equipment insurance. I am not responsible for any damage that your photo gear may incur during any photo tour or workshop.
